MINNESOTA RECALLS SCHROEDER, IOWA SENDS KNIGHT AND MICHALEK TO QUAD CITY

Forward and Goaltender Assigned to ECHL Affiliate

DES MOINES, IA  – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Thursday announced the National Hockey League Club (NHL) has recalled forward Jordan Schroeder from the Iowa Wild, Minnesota’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. In addition, Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr announced the AHL club has assigned forward Jared Knight and goaltender Steven Michalek (Michael-ECK) to the Quad City Mallards, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.

Schroeder, 25 (9/29/90), has tallied one goal in 11 games with Minnesota this season. He has notched 20 points (10-10=14) in 25 games with Iowa and ranks third on the team in goals. The 5-foot-9, 184-pound native of Lakeville, Minn., recorded eight points (3-5=8) and a plus-9 rating in 25 games with Minnesota last season and owns 24 points (10-14=24) and a plus-1 rating in 92 career NHL contests with Vancouver and the Wild. Schroeder was originally selected by Vancouver in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and wears sweater No. 10 with the Wild.

Knight, 24 (1/16/92), has played in 31 games for Iowa this season, scoring once and totaling six points. Minnesota acquired him from the Boston Bruins on Mar.1, 2015 (trade deadline) in exchange for forward Zack Phillips. Since joining Iowa, Knight has played in 47 games, scoring four goals and adding nine assists for 13 points. The Battle Creek, MI native has played parts of four seasons with the AHL’s Providence Bruins from 2010-2015. For his AHL career, Knight has played in 151 games, scoring ten times and adding 27 assists for 37 points. The 5-foot-11, 196-pounder was drafted by Boston in the second round (#32 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Michalek, 22 (8/6/93), was called up to practice on Wednesday, but did not make a game appearance. He is in his first pro season, playing the entire year in Quad City. In 22 games for the Mallards, the young tender is 11-8-3 with a 2.51 GAA and a .922 SV%. He was named the ECHL’s Rookie of the Month in October and named the ECHL Player of the Week in late November. He ranks in the league’s top 20 for GAA and SV%.

Michalek wrapped up his collegiate career at Harvard in 2014-15. He went 21-13-3 with a .924 save percentage (SV%), a 2.28 goals-against average (GAA) and three shutouts in 37 games for Harvard (ECAC) in 2014-15. The 6-foot-3, 197-pound native of Hartford, Conn., ranked second amongst conference goalies in saves, tied for fifth in SV% and ninth in GAA during the season, leading Harvard to the ECAC Championship title and a spot in the NCAA tournament. He totaled a 33-28-13 record with a 2.59 GAA, a .914 SV% and three shutouts in 79 games during three seasons with Harvard (2011-15). Michalek was originally selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in Saint Paul.

The Iowa Wild travels to Rockford next weekend for two games against the IceHogs on Friday and Saturday night. Iowa returns home on Jan. 26 for a game against the Chicago Wolves at 7 P.M. Tuesday’s game features a Crash’s Kids Meal for every kid under the age of 12 courtesy of 96.5 Country of iHeartMedia Des Moines. Crash’s Kids Meal includes one hot dog, one soda, one popcorn, one fruit snack, and one wild prize. The game is also a “Taco Tuesday” presented by Taco John’s. Iowa hosts the Charlotte Checkers for a pair of games on Friday, Jan. 29 and Saturday, Jan. 30. Friday’s game is Military Appreciation Night. The first 1,500 fans (12-years old and under) receive an Iowa Wild patriotic jersey courtesy of Scheels and KISS FM. Friday is also $2 beer night sponsored by 100.3 The Bus. ‘Bring Your Buds Bundle’ will also be available for purchase, including one ticket, one 16 oz. Budweiser or Bud Light at the game, one hot dog, one popcorn, $1 off a Budweiser or Bud Light at the game, and one free Budweiser or Bud Light at Carl’s Place. Saturday’s game is John Torchetti Bobblehead Day, sponsored by NASH FM and NASH ICON. The first 1,500 fans receive a bobblehead of Coach Torchetti. Fans may also purchase the Brewdog Pack, which includes one ticket, one beer, one hotdog, and one free Budweiser or Bud Light at the Legends American Grill. There will also be Subway and Star 102.5 combo packs available for purchase. Starting at $12, the pack includes one ticket, one hot dog, one soda, and one Subway coupon.

The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April.
