Center and Defenseman Sent to ECHL
DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr on Thursday announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has reassigned forward Chase Lang and defenseman Dylan Labbe (pronounced - Lah-Bay) to the Quad City Mallards, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.
Lang, 20 (9/13/96), has been limited to one game due to injuries. He played in 11 games for Iowa as an amateur at the end of the 2015-16 season, scoring twice and adding an assist. Lang turned pro after four seasons in the WHL for Calgary and Vancouver. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound center played in a total of 244 WHL games, scoring 66 times and adding 89 assists for 155 points. In his final junior season, Lang scored 27 times and a added 36 assists for 63 points in 69 games. The Minnesota Wild drafted the Nanaimo, BC native in the sixth round (#167 overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Labbe, 22 (1/9/95), Labbe returns to Quad City, where he played in 12 games earlier this season prior to rejoining Iowa on Jan. 1. The St. Benjamin, PQ native scored three goals and picked up 14 penalty minutes with the Mallards. Labbe has totaled 11 games with Iowa this season, setting up two goals. For his AHL career, Labbe has played in 79 games, scoring five goals and adding six assists for ten points. The St. Benjamin, PQ native played his junior hockey in the QMJHL from 2011-14. In 193 games, Labbe scored 31 times and totaled 106 points for his junior career. Labbe was drafted by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (#107 overall).
After a lengthy road trip with games in Chicago, Rockford, Texas and Milwaukee, Iowa returns home to play the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday, Mar. 18 at 6 PM at Wells Fargo Arena. The St. Patrick’s Day game features a postgame concert with Gaelic Storm, sponsored by 100.3 The Bus, Jim Beam and My Satellite Guy. VIP packages are available starting at $20. The first 1,500 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild Irish themed hat, sponsored by 95 KGGO and LIUNA. In a partnership with Jim Beam and NASH FM, fans 21 and older are able to purchase the “The Big Ginger” drink special. It is also Jim Beam Night. Subway Combo Packs are available for purchase at the game. Brewdog packs are also available for purchase at the game, presented by Legends American Grill and Bud Light. The Wild will also don St. Patrick’s Day themed specialty jerseys for the game. The team wears the specialty jerseys for all three home games in March, culminating with a live postgame jersey auction on Saturday, Mar. 31.
