Gilmour Returns From Quad City, Three Players Sign PTOs

DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr on Thursday announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has recalled center Adam Gilmour from the Quad City Mallards, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.  In addition, Flahr announced the team has signed forwards A.J. Jenks, Jack Nevins and Nolan La Porte to professional tryout agreements (PTO).

Gilmour returns to the Iowa Wild after a five-game stint with Quad City. The rookie centerman scored once and set up three goals to register four points with the Mallards. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder has played in 49 games for Iowa this season, scoring four goals and totaling 10 points.

Jenks, 26 (6/27/90), has spent the entire 2016-17 season with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye. In 46 games he is among the team leaders with 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points. Over the course of his seven-year pro career, Jenks has played in 183 AHL games for San Antonio, Charlotte and Grand Rapids. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward has 19 goals and 46 points for his AHL career. Jenks was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the fourth round (#106 overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

​Nevins, 23 (9/18/93), has played the entire season in Quad City after participating in training camp with Iowa this past fall. In 49 games with the Mallards, Nevins leads the team with 111 penalty minutes, as well as placing in the team’s top 10 for points, securing nine goals and 20 points on the season. The rugged winger is a veteran of 107 AHL games between Rochester and Hamilton from 2013-2016. The Stittsville, ON native has four goals and five total points, to go along with 214 minutes in penalties for his AHL career.

La Porte, 24 (5/4/92), joins Iowa from Quad City, where he is among the team leaders in points for his rookie campaign. La Porte has 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points in 50 outings. He is fifth in overall scoring for the Mallards and tied for third in assists. The Mokena, IL native played at Western Michigan University from 2012-16. In 133 games for the Broncos, La Porte scored 45 times and totaled 90 points. He played his junior hockey for the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers from 2010-12, where he was coached by current Iowa Wild Head Coach Derek Lalonde.

After a six-game road trip with stops in Chicago, Rockford, Texas and Milwaukee, Iowa returns home to play the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday, Mar. 18 at 6 PM at Wells Fargo Arena. The St. Patrick’s Day game features a postgame concert with Gaelic Storm, sponsored by 100.3 The Bus, Jim Beam and My Satellite Guy. VIP packages are available starting at $20. The first 1,500 fans to the game receive an Iowa Wild Irish themed hat, sponsored by 95 KGGO and LIUNA.  In a partnership with Jim Beam and NASH FM, fans 21 and older are able to purchase the “The Big Ginger” drink special.  It is also Jim Beam Night. Subway Combo Packs are available for purchase at the game. Brewdog packs are also available for purchase at the game, presented by Legends American Grill and Bud Light. The Wild will also don St. Patrick’s Day themed specialty jerseys for the game. The team wears the specialty jerseys for all three home games in March, culminating with a live postgame jersey auction on Saturday, Mar. 31.
