IOWA FINISHES PRESEASON WITH 4-1 LOSS TO MANITOBA
Sep 26, 2026SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Iowa Wild wrapped up preseason play with a 4-1 loss to the Manitoba Moose at TRIA Rink on Saturday afternoon.
Michael Milne slipped a backhand shot under Riley Mercer (12 saves) 8:41 into the first period to open the scoring for the Moose.
Deni Goure doubled Manitoba’s advantage 3:15 later with a wrister under the crossbar.
Manitoba outshot Iowa 10-9 in the opening frame, while the Wild outshot the Moose 5-4 in a scoreless second period. Chase Wutzke (seven saves) replaced Mercer for the third period.
Chase Yoder extended the margin to 3-0 at the 5:37 mark of the third period.
Gerry Mayhew put Iowa on the board with assists from Mike Koster and Riley Heidt with 9:57 to play.
Milne added an empty-net goal with 2:27 remaining.
Isaac Poulter turned aside 19 of Iowa’s 20 shots. The Wild finished scoreless on six power plays while the Moose went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
Iowa opens the 2026-27 season against the Texas Stars at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
