
IOWA WILD ALUMNI NICO STURM WINS STANLEY CUP WITH FLORIDA
Jun 18, 2025DES MOINES, Iowa – Nico Sturm became the first Iowa Wild alumni to win the Stanley Cup twice following the Florida Panthers’ 4-2 series win over the Edmonton Oilers in the 2025 Stanley Cup Final.
Sturm, 30 (5/3/1995) previously lifted the Stanley Cup as a member of the Colorado Avalanche in 2022. The Augsburg, Germany native recorded 32 points (12-20=32), 18 penalty minutes (PIM), and a plus-9 rating in 55 games with Iowa during the 2019-20 season. Sturm has posted 92 points (46-46=92), 86 PIM, and a minus-39 rating in 331 games across seven NHL seasons with the Minnesota Wild (2018-22), Colorado Avalanche (2021-22), San Jose Sharks (2022-25), and Florida Panthers (2024-25).
Darcy Kuemper, who played with Iowa from 2013-15, also won the Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2022. Derek Lalonde, the team’s head coach from 2016-18, won the Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021.
