IOWA WILD RECALLS MASTERS, NOVAK FROM HEARTLANDERS

DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa Wild General Manager Mike Murray today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has recalled defenseman Kyle Masters and forward Pavel Novak from the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL. 

Masters, 21 (4/9/03), has recorded three points (0-3=3), a plus-2 rating and six penalty minutes (PIM) in 18 games with the Iowa Wild this season. Masters has posted 19 points (4-5=19), a minus-9 rating and 2 PIM in 32 games with the Heartlanders this season. Prior to his professional debut, the 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman totaled 92 points (26-76=92) through 175 games in the WHL across four seasons with the Red Deer Rebels and Kamloops Blazers. The Edmonton, Alberta native led Kamloops defensemen in points (11-54=65) and ranked second on the team in assists during the 2022-23 season.  

Minnesota selected Masters in the fourth round (#118 overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft. 

Novak, 21 (4/16/02), owns three points (2-1=3), a minus-1 rating and six PIM through 12 games with the Wild. He has also posted 27 points (14-13=27), a minus-15 rating and 26 PIM in 44 games with the Heartlanders this season. He collected 72 points (29-43=72), a plus-26 rating and 14 PIM in 62 games with the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Hockey League (WHL) in 2021-22. Novak ranked T-1st on the team in goals, second in scoring, assists and plus/minus rating, third in power play goals (8) and shots on goal (208) and recorded 20 multi-point games. Novak was named to the WHL B.C. Division Second All-Star Team and recorded two hat tricks during 2021-22 (3/26 vs. Kamloops and 10/30 vs. Victoria). The 5-foot-10, 183-pound forward is a native of Tabor, Czech Republic. 

Novak tallied two points (1-1=2) in two games for Czechia at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship and collected three points (1-2=3) in five games at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. He skated in 15 games with Ceske Budejovice HC in the Czech Republic League in 2020-21. Novak tallied 58 points (25-33=58) in 55 games with Kelowna in 2019-20. He led the team in scoring and ranked T-2nd among WHL rookies in assists, third in scoring and fourth in goals. 
The Wild selected Novak in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
