Iowa Welcomes Rockford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (2-4-0-0, 4 points) were defeated by the Manitoba Moose (3-3-0-0, 6 points) 4-2 in front of 5,142 fans on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Moose forward Buddy Robinson scored a goal and added two assists to help Manitoba defeat Iowa. Veteran forward Mike Sgarbossa tallied two assists to help Manitoba earn a split on the road. Moose goalie Michael Hutchinson (2-1-0) stopped 24 of 26 shots in the victory. Wild goalie Niklas Svedberg (2-4-0) stopped 23 of 26 shots in the defeat. Forwards Kyle Rau and Colton Beck each scored a goal for Iowa. Iowa welcomes Rockford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Manitoba forward Buddy Robinson opened the scoring 43 seconds into the first period. His second goal of the season was set up by defenseman Peter Stoykewych and forward Mike Sgarbossa. Robinson tipped a shot from the point to give the Moose an early 1-0 lead. Wild forward Kyle Rau scored his second goal of the season for Iowa at 3:24 of the first period, tying the game 1-1. Rau carried the puck up the left-wing side and shot the puck from the circle to beat Hutchinson on the stick side.

Moose forward Mason Appleton scored a power-play goal at 6:54 of the second period, making it a 2-1 game. His first goal of the season was assisted by Sgarbossa and Robinson. Appleton redirected a shot from the point. Manitoba forward JC Lipon made it a 3-1 game at 12:53 of the middle frame. Defensemen Sami Niku and Julian Melchiori set up his first goal of the year. Lipon’s wrister from the left-wing circle beat Svedberg on the short side.

Forward Colton Beck scored his fourth goal of the season at 15:11 of the third period. The power-play goal was set up by defenseman Brennan Menell, as well as forward Mario Lucia. Beck’s shot from the slot beat Hutchinson on the glove side, making it a 3-2 game. Lipon scored his second goal of the game at 19:01 of the third period. The empty-net goal was set up by Robinson for the 4-2 final score..

The Wild hosts the IceHogs in Des Moines on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. It is Wine Wednesday with $2 off Barefoot refresh presented by Barefoot Wine. 

After a pair of road games in Tucson, Iowa returns home to meet the San Antonio Rampage on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. Dollar dog night with $1 hotdogs, $1 pretzels and $1 small popcorn is presented by LAZER 103.3. Trivia night takes place in “The Fort,” previously known as the River’s Edge Restaurant, before the game.

Iowa and San Antonio faceoff again on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. It is a Bus beer night with $2 beers presented by 100.3 The Bus. There is also a coat drive at the game. Fans receive a free weekday ticket voucher with a donation.
