Iowa and Cleveland Meet Again on Tuesday at 7 PM

DES MOINES, IA  – The Iowa Wild (31-30-6-2, 70 points) were defeated by the Cleveland Monsters (35-28-3-4, 77 points) 4-0 on Sunday night in front of 5,161 fans at Wells Fargo Arena. Monsters goalie Brad Thiessen (4-6-1) made 19 saves in the shutout win over Iowa. Forwards Zac Dalpe, T.J. Tynan, Justin Scott and Nick Moutrey each scored for the Monsters. Wild goalie Steve Michalek (11-14-1) stopped 26 of 29 shots in the loss. Iowa and Cleveland rematch on Tuesday at 7 PM.

Cleveland forward Zac Dalpe’s eighth goal of the season opened the scoring at 15:32 of the first period, giving the Monsters a 1-0 lead. The power-play goal was assisted by forward Daniel Zaar and defenseman Dean Kukan. Zaar passed the puck to Dalpe just to the left of the Iowa net, and he beat Michalek on the stick side. Forward T.J. Tynan extended Cleveland’s lead to 2-0 on a power play at 19:40 of the first period. Forwards Markus Hannikainen and Sonny Milano helped set up Tynan’s 11th goal of the year. Hannikainen passed the puck cross-ice to Tynan in the right-wing circle.

After a scoreless second period, forward Justin Scott scored an empty-net goal at 17:58 of the third period, making it 3-0. Scott’s 13th goal of the season was assisted by Hannikainen and defenseman John Ramage. Forward Nick Moutrey scored 13 seconds later at 18:11 of the third period. Moutrey’s eighth goal of the season was set up by Milano and made it a 4-0 final score.

Iowa and Cleveland meet again on Tuesday, April 4 at 7 PM. It is a kids eat free night sponsored by 96.5 Country and Goodhue Nolte Insurance. All kids 12 years of age and younger eat for free with (1) Crash’s Kids Meal. The meal includes one hotdog, one soda, one popcorn, one fruit snack and an Iowa Wild prize. Fans may also bring in their Subway receipt to purchase a ticket for only $5.

Iowa welcomes the Rockford IceHogs to Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday, April 6 at 7 PM. There is a career fair at the game. Fans may bring in their Subway receipt to purchase a ticket for only $5.

The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area.
